Marrakech – Here follows the full text of the Royal message addressed by King Mohammed VI to the 31th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, held on March 12-13 in Marrakech The message was read on the Monarch’s behalf by interior minister, Mohammed Hassad.May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet, His Kith and KinYour Highnesses, Your Excellencies,Ladies and Gentlemen, I should like, first of all, to welcome you to the Kingdom of Morocco, your home away from home, which is honored to host the 31st session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers. The convening this important meeting in Marrakech reflects Morocco’s strong commitment to supporting Arab joint action, especially that which involves officials in charge of home affairs, considering the key role they play. To this end, mechanisms for consultation and coordination should be reinforced in order to enhance our officials’ ability to craft innovative strategies that can help keep pace with current shifts and changes, and meet the requirements of security and social stability. In this regard, we respectfully remember His Royal Highness Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, the Honorary President of this august Council – may he rest in peace – who played a pivotal role and had the great merit of ensuring the continuity of the Council’s meetings, right from the first session, which was held in Casablanca in 1982.Ladies and Gentlemen,The convening of this session of the Council, amid significant changes and far-reaching reforms under way in the Arab world, will no doubt provide a chance to get to the heart of the concept of security, which has profoundly changed. This will contribute to enhancing the security of our Arab countries, making them immune to the perils of extremism and terrorism and to all types of organized crime, including arms smuggling and trafficking in human beings and drugs.Your meeting today attests to your strong will to preserve the security and stability of our Arab world, and to uphold the values of cohesion, peace and cultural openness, which form the bedrock of our communities. It will also enhance your contribution to meeting the legitimate aspirations of Arab peoples for further progress and development. You are therefore called upon to adopt rational, forward-looking and far-sighted approaches that can effectively contribute to the development of creative plans based on coordination and cooperation. The aim is to be able to deal with anything that could compromise the security and stability of our countries, or the safety of our citizens.Needless to say, successful security policies and effective pre-emptive measures hinge on the involvement and contribution of the citizens, who fully realize their constructive role in ensuring security and serenity, in the same way as they play an active part in the development process and in creating the right conditions for investment and the achievement of progress.Seen from this perspective, the concept of real security is much broader than the narrow meaning it is usually given. Security primarily means putting the citizen at the heart of public policy, capitalizing on an effective social partnership in which the State and the citizens mutually supplement and reinforce one another – a partnership in which security imperatives, development requisites and respect for human rights go hand in hand.Your Highnesses,Your Excellencies,Ladies and Gentlemen,Considering the crucial role played by the citizens not only as key partners in the achievement of security and stability and in the promotion of the development process, but also as active contributors to the creation of the right social environment imbued with democratic values and respect for human rights, I was keen to lay the foundations for a new concept of authority. It is built around preserving and expanding liberties, safeguarding peoples’ dignity and rights in a state based on the rule of law, and promoting a democratic system close to the citizens as well as a participatory approach in the management of public affairs. In the same vein, I launched the National Initiative for Human Development in 2005, which makes the citizen the central element of the development process as well as its main goal. Indeed, I firmly believe that political and civil rights cannot have tangible meaning in the citizen’s everyday life unless they are supported by economic, social, cultural and environmental rights.I have seen to it, at the same time, that a new territorial system based on decentralization is established. This has led to the launching of the advanced regionalization project, which aims to consolidate territorial good governance and pave the way for a democratic management system of local affairs. The ultimate goal is to achieve integrated social and economic development. To make sure we capitalize on the positive results achieved and the far-reaching reforms undertaken in the fields of human rights and development, I have seen to it that the Kingdom’s Constitution includes a comprehensive charter of social, economic, cultural and environment rights.Building on the same approach, I have made sure our efforts also address the issue of migrants, particularly those from Sub-Saharan countries. Thus, a comprehensive, multidimensional migration and asylum policy has been adopted. It is rooted not only in Morocco’s time-honored tradition as a welcoming, hospitable land, but also in our record as a nation that lives up to its international commitments, respects migrants’ rights and takes into account their humanitarian situation. All of the above projects and reforms are based on honoring man and on making the citizen the cornerstone as well as the ultimate goal of public policies. As such, they set the stage for a holistic approach in which democracy, development, security and stability are closely intertwined.Aware of the importance of this integrated approach, and in order to promote a comprehensive perception of security based on respect for human rights, the preservation of social peace and the creation of an environment conducive to development, Morocco has introduced this approach in the training curricula of security colleges and institutions. This can be seen through the implementation of the security governance strategy, which makes it possible for security college graduates to be more open to the citizens and to have a greater ability to listen to and respond to people’s needs, not to mention the capacity to participate actively and pragmatically in finding solutions to the citizens’ real problems. They also contribute to creating the right environment for the promotion of investment and development, and to encouraging private and community-based initiatives aimed at fostering solidarity and social peace.Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a summary of the Moroccan experience, which I wanted to share with you at this important meeting.Your Highnesses,Your Excellencies,Ladies and Gentlemen,Today, the adoption of an Arab security charter will only be possible through a unified, common Arab perception of the concept of security, with its constantly evolving economic, social and human rights dimensions.I am sure this meeting which brings together a fine group of Arab officials and international experts will adopt a set of practical recommendations that will pave the way for effective solutions which fulfill our Arab peoples’ aspirations for further security, peace, stability, progress and prosperity, in an environment where freedom and dignity prevail.I should like to take this opportunity to commend the outstanding action carried out by your Council to serve this goal through various strategies and specific plans as well as through a number of workshops. These efforts contribute to raising Arab awareness. They also strengthen the commitment to constructive security action and to the pivotal role it plays in bringing about the environment where values and rights are preserved and the development dynamic promoted.I see the Marrakech meeting as a fresh start for the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, particularly in light of the sweeping changes in the region and the overall situation in the Arab world. You have tremendous responsibilities in the areas within your remit. You are therefore called upon to agree on your one and the same approach and enhance coordination and constructive consultation because they are conducive to promoting development and ensuring security and stability.Once again, welcome to your second home. May Almighty God grant you success for the benefit of Arab peoples.“And say: work (righteousness): Soon will Allah observe your work, and His Messenger, and the Believers”True is the word of God.Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.
Tunis – Tunisia’s President Beji Caid Essebsi praised, on Saturday, the efforts led by King Mohammed VI to promote the values of peace and tolerance in the region.President Caid Essebsi made the statement during an audience in the presidential palace in Tunis with Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar who delivered to him a message of condolence and solidarity sent by HM King Mohammed VI in the wake of the terrorist attack on the Bardo museum in Tunis.Speaking to MAP following the audience, Mezouar said that President Caid Essebsi highlighted the longstanding bilateral relations, noting that “Morocco is a friendly and brotherly country that shares with Tunisia strong centuries-old ties and a common future.” On the situation in the region, the Tunisian President reiterated his commitment to press ahead with efforts to achieve integration in the Maghreb.President Caid Essebsi also sent an invitation to the Sovereign to visit Tunisia, recalling the positive impact of the latest visit by HM King Mohammed VI to Tunis.Mezouar expressed to Tunisia’s President “the solidarity of the Moroccan King, government and people with Tunisia following the despicable terrorist attack that violates all universal human values and the precepts of our religion.”On the same occasion, the minister transmitted relayed to President Caid Essebssi an invitation from HM the King to visit Morocco.Mezouar also expressed Morocco’s support to the democratic transition process in Tunisia.
“Clashes between rival neighbourhoods in Tripoli continue, and this has affected the pace of registration from our newly established centre in the city,” a spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Adrian Edwards, told a media briefing in Geneva. “The registration centre was open until yesterday with reduced staff as about half of them live in areas affected by shooting. Today, however, we’ve had to close the centre temporarily for security reasons,” Mr. Edwards said, adding that UNHCR would continue its operations despite the security challenges. Syria has been wracked by violence, with an estimated 17,000 people, mostly civilians, killed since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began some 17 months ago. According to media reports, fighting between supporters and opponents of the Syrian Government in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, has killed more than 12 people this week, and there has been an increase in tensions in other parts of the country, such as the northern city of Tripoli. The registration of refugees has also been affected in the Bekaa valley, located along the border with Syria in eastern Lebanon, in the wake of recent kidnappings of Syrians in the area. “As a protection measure for the refugees, we are avoiding large gatherings of Syrians at registration and distribution points in some areas though assistance continues in a modified way,” Mr. Edwards said. Some 51,000 Syrians have registered or applied to register with UNHCR in Lebanon. One of the refugee agency’s key concerns is to identify and rehabilitate alternative shelters for the growing number of people staying in schools, which are due to resume classes next month. Mr. Edwards said the refugee agency has identified abandoned schools and hopes to relocate some 500 people in the Bekaa valley in the coming fortnight. “Across Lebanon, UNHCR has been continuing its back-to-school drive and yesterday met with school directors in Halba Public School in the north to identify places for refugee children,” he said. Overall, the total number of Syrian refugees registered or awaiting registration with UNHCR currently stands at 202,512. UNHCR is also continuing its operations in Turkey, Jordan, Iraq and Syria, the spokesperson added. In Turkey, the country hosting the largest number of Syrian refugees, seven new camps are being built, which will bring the total number of camps to 16, with a capacity to hold 130,000 people. Meanwhile, the influx of refugees continues in Jordan and Iraq, where UNHCR is working on improving conditions in camps to give people access to basic services such as electricity. In addition, the spokesperson said, the agency continues its work in Syria itself, despite an escalation in military activity in the capital, Damascus, which has restricted staff movements and the ability of refugees to access the UNHCR office. “Our hotlines continue to operate giving counselling to refugees who enquire about relocation, food distribution, financial assistance, residency issues, registration and resettlement,” Mr. Edwards said. “Relief items like hygiene kits and mattresses are being distributed to displaced people via our partners.”
Brock student Jessica Lewis will compete for Bermuda in wheelchair track at the 2012 Paralympics in London later this summer. A Brock University student will compete in the 200-metre wheelchair track event at the 2012 Paralympics in London later this summer.Jessica Lewis, who is studying inclusive and therapeutic recreation, qualified for the Games at the Desert Challenge in Mesa, Arizona in May with a time of 33.81 seconds. The second-year student hopes to also qualify for both the 100-metre and 400-metre events throughout this summer’s racing season.Lewis trains at Brock during the week with her personal trainer, Scott Frendo-Cumbo, using her track chair on a roller, which works like a treadmill. On weekends, Lewis, who will compete for Bermuda when in London, trains in Mississauga with coach Ken Thom and a group of athletes competing for Canada.“I’m known as the ‘adopted athlete’ because I’m the only one who represents a different country, but I train with the Canadians,” Lewis said.Lewis was born in Bermuda but has dual citizenship because her grandmother is Canadian. She came to Brock University because it offered her preferred program and allowed her to be close to her coach.Windreach, an organization in Bermuda that helps people with disabilities participate in activities and sports, introduced Lewis to many different sports and trainers throughout her life. But it wasn’t until 2008, when she met Thom at a Windreach international sports expo, that she started training to compete in wheelchair track. She’ll be the first para-athlete to ever compete in the sport for Bermuda.“He is a fantastic coach and I am so thrilled to have been taken on by him,” she said. “I definitely wouldn’t be the athlete I am today if it wasn’t for Ken.”Lewis said she would like to work at Windreach as a sports co-ordinator one day.“I want to be able to help people with disabilities from first-hand experience,” she said.

Some have contributed to a series of Out of the Blue videos, showcasing the reality of parenting in the hopes of making new mothers and fathers realise they are not alone. The Duchess told one: “There is so much support for mothers when they are pregnant but it can be very lonely after your baby is born.” To the watching world, she navigates motherhood with ease, marshalling two impeccably behaved small children while wearing sky-high heels and a smile for the cameras.Mere mortals may be pleased to learn, then, that even the Duchess of Cambridge has struggled after having babies, as she admits experiencing a “lack of confidence and feelings of ignorance” under the pressures of being a “perfect parent”.The Duchess, mother to Prince George and Princess Charlotte, said even she, with all the benefits of having help at home, had found parenthood a “huge challenge”, learning it can be “very lonely after your baby is born”. And yet there is no rule book, no right or wrong – you just have to make it up and do the very best you can to care for your family. “For many mothers, myself included, this can, at times lead to lack of confidence and feelings of ignorance.”Speaking of the two in 10 women who experience mental health issues during or after pregnancy, the Duchess said: “Some of this fear is about the pressure to be a perfect parent; pretending we’re all coping perfectly and loving every minute of it. Launching a project about mental health in early parenthood, she said: “Nothing can really prepare you for you the sheer overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother.”The Duchess was speaking at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London at a reception for Best Beginnings’ Out of the Blue series, a programme of educational films promoting mental health for parents and their infants. The Best Beginnings project works is partnered with Heads Together, the mental health charity supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.”Personally, becoming a mother has been such a rewarding and wonderful experience,” the Duchess said. For many mothers, myself included, this can, at times lead to lack of confidence and feelings of ignoranceThe Duchess of Cambridge “Conversations are crucial for mental wellbeing and they should be part of everyday family life. Talking about a problem with a friend or another trusted person can be the beginning of getting better.”This week, as we look forward to Mother’s Day, I would love to see everyone celebrate and value the fundamental importance that mothers play in family life.” “It’s right to talk about motherhood as a wonderful thing, but we also need to talk about its stresses and strains. Your fundamental identity changes overnight. “However, at times it has also been a huge challenge – even for me who has support at home that most mothers do not. Making it look easy: the Duchess marshalls her children down the steps on an aeroplane in front of the world’s media She added: “If any of us caught a fever during pregnancy, we would seek advice and support from a doctor. “Getting help with our mental health is no different – our children need us to look after ourselves and get the support we need. “It’s OK not to find it easy. Asking for help should not be seen as a sign of weakness.”In a conference hosted by broadcaster Kate Silverton, audience members including the Duchess heard from parents who have endured and overcome mental health issues. There’s an understandable disconnect between the companies that are subsidizing phones on their networks and the people who want to take those phones, open them up, and play with them. While it could be argued that the carriers don’t have the right to tell you how to use your technology, I would say that only goes as far as the people who buy a phone outright. The Android hacker community is substantial, now reaching millions of users who all want their devices to have access to the goodies that are baked in custom ROMs. Motorola is the latest company trying to bridge the gap between the carriers who want more control and the users who want full control. The Motorola Developer Edition devices announced at a recent press event seemed like a step in the right direction, but after a glimpse into what Motorola has planned for these devices it is clear that no one will buy them. The hardware manufacturers sit in between the users and the carriers on this situation. Carriers put pressure on the OEMs to lock down the devices, and the users take their money elsewhere. As long as they aren’t switching carriers, the only people this hurts are the manufacturers. These Android hackers are an incredibly vocal minority, and have proven several times over that their influence is significant. So, in the spirit of compromise, Motorola announced Developer Editions for their new phone. The idea is pretty simple; buy a developer edition of the phone and you can do whatever you want to it. The carriers aren’t stuck footing the bill if a device breaks, and the users get what they want. In a perfect world, everybody wins. Unfortunately, the Developer Edition devices aren’t quite as cut and dry as all that. There’s red tape that every user needs to go through, even though they have purchased a special version of the phone to get the bootloader unlocked.Motorola’s customer portal outlines a four step process where the user must surrender personal information and device ID’s to Motorola in exchange for the tools to unlock the device. Every user who wants an unlocked bootloader must add themselves to a registry where, should anything happen to your phone, Motorola is not responsible. The language used in describing this whole process sounds downright threatening when said out loud. Users are told that unlocking the bootloader is “not for the faint of heart” and that once you unlock the device you will “have only yourself to blame” if something goes wrong. One particularly troubling line says that even if you have issues that appear unrelated to the unlocked bootloader, Motorola won’t be helping you out.So lets say you do buy a special Developer Edition phone and decide to do things Motorola’s way. You hand over your phone number and Google account, and Motorola attaches that information to the device ID and stores it away. The unlock process from this point all feels very familiar. In fact, this part of the process is almost step by step the exact same process that HTC goes through to unlock their devices for users. The biggest difference between HTC and Motorola in this situation being that you can unlock and sign away your warranty for any HTC phone, not just the developer editions. Additionally, if something happens to an HTC phone that is obviously not related to the bootloader, HTC will still honor the warranty. To recap, Motorola wants you to pay full price for a special version of their devices and then make you jump through hoops to actually unlock the bootloader. Then, after you have gone through all of this, you lose your warranty anyways. If a clever Android hacker comes along and finds an exploit that bypasses the encryption that Motorola has set in place, you have the exact same level of support from Motorola if something happens to your device. There’s no actual benefit to following the rules in this situation. If anything, Motorola is encouraging users to find exploits to hack their phones, since in many cases the changes you make can be reverted in case of warranty repair. This is not a solution for anything, and as a result I doubt that Developer Edition devices will sell at all. Motorola will need to offer an actual benefit to using a Developer Edition device, which really shouldn’t be all that hard to do.
The Best and Most Loved Anime Series of All TimeThe Best Anime On Hulu Stay on target If you’re a die-hard Sailor Moon fan who’s been looking for ways to deck out your phone with a special case or something to that effect that demonstrates how much you love the series, you might want to sit down. Are you sitting? Some lucky Moonies will be able to purchase an official Sailor Moon cell phone soon, and it looks just as perfect as you’ve probably imagined. The phone is from Chinese tech company and mobile app developer Meitu, whom you may remember from the BeautyPlus app that had the internet all aflutter recently with its hilarious photo editing results and startling security concerns. It’s an M8-model with pink and gold trimmings, which looks a lot like Sailor Moon’s Cosmic transformation brooch. The back of the phone case itself has a gorgeous silhouette of Sailor Moon herself posing against the moon. That’s not all you get, though. There’s also a selfie stick that comes bundled with the phone that looks like Sailor Moon’s Spiral Heart Moon Rod with a pink heart at the top. There are a few coloring differences, but for the most part, it looks like it was just ripped from any Sailor Moon fanatic’s dreams. It costs about $440, and it’s limited to the Chinese market, unfortunately. It will be released in approximately 10,000 units, but unfortunately, there’s no information on when exactly it’s going to go on sale just yet.We really need one of these phones in the west, but unfortunately, right now that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. We can always hope, though, for a little Moon Tiara Magic at some point. In the meantime, at least there are several awesome Sailor Moon phone accessories we can lean on: phone chargers, cases, USB hubs, and more. This is just one battle we didn’t win outside of China as Moonies, kids.photos via prtimes.jp

Pacific Cod.Last week Alaska Fish and Game set the Pacific cod guideline harvest level (GHL) for the fishing season that began on Jan. 1.Dutch Harbor Fish and Game biologist Justin Leon says the 2016 numbers are a big change from last year.“We’ve just released this coming year’s GHL for the harvest that’s going to be allowed for the Aleutian Islands Subdistrict, and that is going to be 10,476,259 pounds. It’s down 42 percent from last year,” Leon said. Why such a huge drop?“That’s because the [Alaska] Board [of Fisheries] changed some things in order to align us better with the federal side of things, specifically last year we took three percent of what was allowed in the federal Bering Sea-Aleutian Islands area,” Leon explained. “This year, what we’ve done is taken 27 percent from just the Aleutian Islands part of that area. And that’s how we’ve come up with that.”One new change in the regulations for the upcoming season concerns registering. In mid-December, the Division of Commercial Fisheries issued an emergency order authorizing parallel groundfish fisheries in state waters. The order applies to the Kodiak, Chignik, South Alaska Peninsula and the Bering Sea-Aleutian Islands area.“Long story short. Parallel fishery – they no longer need to register. And that’s something the fishermen are just going to want to know in general,” Leon said. “So that is a reg [ulation] change, to fish the parallel Pacific cod fishery now you don’t need to register.”Another big change this year, Leon says, is the consolidation of fishing seasons.“Before we had an A and a B season. And now it’s all just one season that’s fished until all of our allowed amount is caught,” he said.
This week we’re hearing from KSKA’s long-time program director Bede Trantina. Bede is retiring today after 39 years of public radio service. Now that is a very long time to work somewhere, and Bede has enjoyed just about all of it. Unfortunately, she did have one small but disturbing surprise just before she left.Listen nowTRANTINA: Well, knowing that my last day was coming up, I realized “Jeez, I’ve got to clean out my desk, clean out my office. So I came in on a Saturday, and I got the vacuum cleaner, and I’m moving some stuff around. And I found some coffee beans under the heater area, some old candy behind my file cabinet. And then I’ve got these cloth bags, underneath my desk with like a change of clothes, and a towel, and some soap. In case, you know, we get stuck here with an ongoing story, and I hadn’t looked in those things for a long time. And there on the bottom of this cloth bag, I thought, “Oh look, there’s a little fuzzy key chain. I don’t remember getting that.” Then I looked at it a little bit closer, and I thought, “That’s not a key chain. That’s a dead mouse.”It was all wrapped up, all curled up. And I looked at it and I thought, “Oh (expletive), what is that?” And I dropped it, and I took all of the stuff that I’d taken out of that bag just like it was contaminated. And I put it back in that bag and put it upstairs and dropped it in the garbage can. I don’t remember anything else that I found. Certainly nothing that was that gross. But, I like to think of myself as a pretty good housekeeper. But, maybe not such a good officekeeper.

(Image courtesy of the Alaska LNG project.)The state’s liquefied natural gas pipeline export project with China can continue regardless of whether Governor Bill Walker is elected to a second term in November. Walker, an independent seeking reelection, has made the megaproject a top priority, while Republican challenger Mike Dunleavy has expressed skepticism about the state’s ability to manage it.Listen nowAlaska Gasline Development Corporation senior vice president Frank Richards says the AGDC was set up by the legislature to transcend election cycles.”We were created as an organization that would be somewhat apolitical,” Richards said. “The goal was that the project would move forward based on its merits and economic viability.”Richards was in Fairbanks yesterday to update the community on the project, which faces a self-imposed year-end target date to sign a binding agreement with three Chinese government owned companies, under which they would finance 75 percent of the $44 billion project in exchange for 75 percent of gas line output.”So I would say we’re actively engaged with that. It’s a negotiation with the very astute buyer of LNG,” Richards said. “So we are doing our due diligence to make sure that we’re getting the best contract for Alaska and our resources.”Richards says the agreement will guarantee the Chinese buyers a discounted natural gas price over the 20-year life of the financing.”That’s where we have to make sure that we’re gonna acquire debt financing that is not too expensive,” Richards said. “And then we’ll be able to utilize our equity portion to be able to sell to the remainder of the Asian markets to acquire higher returns for the 25 percent remaining.”Richards emphasizes that the Chinese companies will not own the gasline, but notes that the AGDC is required to offer up equity shares of the project.”We’re gonna develop an equity offering that we’ll take out to the world markets, including Alaskans, individual Alaskans, Alaska municipalities and Alaska Native corporations, the opportunity to invest in this project,” Richards said.Richards says the offering is expected to be issued this fall. On another front, Richards says the AGDC is negotiating with North Slope producers Conoco Phillips and Exxon Mobil to supply the gas line. It already has a contract with BP.

November 27, 2018 1,270 Views Share Why Real Estate Professionals Are Embracing Fintech FinTech First American Homebuyers Mark Fleming real estate Real Estate Sentiment Index technology 2018-11-27 Donna Joseph in Daily Dose, Featured, Market Studies, News, Technology Fintech is evolving to be a big name in the real estate industry due to increased demand from homebuyers for better service. Here’s how fintech is securing collaboration between all parties in a real estate transaction, according to First American’s proprietary Real Estate Sentiment Index (RESI) for the fourth quarter of 2018.Enhanced homebuying experienceAccording to Mark Fleming, Chief Economist at First American, the largest group of prospective homebuyers, millennials, expect greater efficiency and convenience in their home-buying experience. First America surveyed title insurance agents and real estate professionals across the nation to gauge their interest in fintech. Prospective homebuyers felt pressured to settle deals quickly before opportunities fade away due to low inventory and high home prices. Based on the respondents’ perspective, Fleming pointed out three key innovations: secure collaboration and communication portals, eClosing and remote online notarization, and chatbots to engage borrowers.Emphasis on SecurityForty-five percent of title agents and real estate professionals surveyed said that the most important financial technology that helps potential homebuyers accelerate transactions is secure collaboration and communication portals. The respondents indicated that a secure platform allows them to correspond with lenders, real estate agents, escrow officers, and other parties involved with the real estate transaction. Sophisticated Fraud Prevention TechnologiesThe report found that 34 percent of title agents and real estate professionals believe that remote online notarization and eClosings will have a large impact and will help homebuyers close their transactions faster and more efficiently. Through remote online notarization, a notary can notarize documents remotely over the internet via tamper-evident digital tools, sophisticated fraud prevention technologies and live audio-video conferencing. Fleming notes that “eClosing, the electronic execution of mortgage loan closing, can also reduce the risk of manual errors in the closing process, improving loan quality alongside efficiency.”Descent of ChatbotsEighteen percent of title agents and real estate professionals indicated that tools that help with process efficiency and automation, such as customer service chatbots, would help deliver a more efficient home-buying experience.“With more and more prospective home buyers searching for homes and information online, chatbots can help real estate agents engage potential customers in real time as they are browsing online listings, at any time of day. 2019 is anticipated to bring increased adoption of these innovations,” Fleming said.
