Atletico Madrid’s 3-0 loss to rivals Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday was just a continuation of results that have blighted the team for almost 60 years.Real’s victory at the Santiago Bernabeu means they are poised to knock Atletico out of the competition for the fourth successive year. Two of those defeats came in the 2014 and 2016 finals in Lisbon and Milan respectively, the other a quarter-final elimination in 2015, but perhaps the most disappointing aspect of Tuesday’s result was that it was fully deserved.Madrid dominated from start to finish with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick, while Atletico only created two real chances in the first half, and wasted both. The loss was a continuation of results Atletico have suffered in continental competition against Madrid since the European Cup semi-final in 1959 despite coach Diego Simeone’s reign bringing more balance to the rivalry. The Argentine, however, has not given up on his team’s chances yet.”We will try and take the chance we have, no matter how small it is,” Simeone told reporters. “I feel relaxed, more than anything else, more than ever.”We will try for something impossible, as we are Atletico Madrid, we are capable of doing it.”Despite the coach’s words of hope, elimination seems an inevitability.A pre-match banner caused some consternation at Atletico according to reports in Spain, as Madrid fans created a display which read ‘tell me how it feels’, with references to Milan and Lisbon.Over 4,000 Atletico fans attended the game and they remained for over 15 minutes after the final whistle, singing about never giving up on their team.advertisementUnfortunately their team had given up on them by the 73rd minute of the first leg, conceding Ronaldo’s second goal before he completed his hat-trick four minutes from the end, leaving themselves little hope of a comeback next week.
A Catholic priest was stabbed in front of dozens of stunned worshippers as he was celebrating mass Friday morning at Montreal’s St. Joseph’s Oratory.Montreal police said a 911 call was placed at around 8:40 a.m. When officers arrived at the landmark church, a male suspect was already detained by security guards.Philip Barrett, who was sitting near the front of the church, said he saw a tall man, who appeared to be a Caucasian in his 30s, rise from a pew and quickly walk into the sanctuary to attack Rev. Claude Grou, the Oratory’s rector.“He walked over behind the altar and he seemed to strike the priest’s body,” Barrett said. “I think the priest fell down at that time. I do remember the priest was moving away from the man but it happened so quickly there was almost no time to react.”Barrett said people quickly restrained the suspect, who did not struggle. He said the suspect didn’t speak or call out during the attack.According to police, Grou was celebrating mass when a man suddenly approached him and attacked him with a knife.Police spokeswoman Caroline Chevrefils said the victim suffered minor injuries to his upper body and was taken to hospital. The suspect was to be questioned by police Friday morning.Barrett said Grou crumpled to the ground after the attack, but appeared to be conscious and alert about 15 minutes later when paramedics wheeled him to an ambulance. He said members of the congregation immediately began praying, both for Grou and for the suspect.St. Joseph’s Oratory is among Canada’s largest churches, and pilgrims from all over the world are drawn to its domed roof and stunning architecture.Barrett said that he, like the rest of the roughly 60 people present, was shocked that an attack would happen in a place he has come to see as a haven.“I really find it’s a welcoming place,” he said. “I just hope that as a result of this, I mean, I can imagine they’re going to need more security, but I hope they can still keep that welcoming spirit.”The incident was caught on video during a live streaming of the mass. Warning: The video may be disturbing to some viewers.

BALURGHAT: A group of miscreants allegedly led by some BJP activists attacked the house of Trinamool MLA of Itahar in North Dinajpur, Amal Acharjee, on Tuesday night. The goons had allegedly pelted stones and hurled bombs targeting the house. Acharjee is also the Trinamool Congress district president of North Dinajpur. Acharjee has filed an official complaint with the police on Wednesday. According to a police source, the BJP had conducted a victory rally after forming the Panchayat board in Itahar, while miscreants led by party activists targetted Acharjee’s house. Notably, the BJP had bagged 13 seats and formed the board of Itahar Gram Panchayat on Tuesday. Trinamool had won in 12 seats. “Itahar is a peaceful area. The BJP after capturing the Gram Panchayat started terrorising Trinamool voters, leaders and workers. We will not tolerate this. Trinamool is against any such activity. I have urged the police for strict legal action against those who were behind the crime,” Acharjee said.

April 15, 2010 Free Webinar | Sept 5: Tips and Tools for Making Progress Toward Important Goals 1 min read Welcome to the age of the multi-media elevator pitch. The battery-powered, pocket-sized MPro150 from 3M projects a decently bright, 8- to 50-inch image on anything from an elevator wall to the back of an airline seat. It features a relatively crisp LED picture, 20,000 hours of lamp life, two hours of projection time, as much as 3 GB of memory and adapters and control software that can project everything from your PC’s desktop to those lingering episodes of Lost on your iPhone. The pico-projector demand is fueled by entrepreneurs who need to have a memorable pitch ready no matter where they are. “There is a coolness factor that can be a big advantage in a selling situation,” says William Coggshall, president of consultancy Pacific Media Associates in Menlo Park, Calif. The 3M projector (which lists for $395) also stores and manages most common business files such as Word, Excel and, yes, PowerPoint. Although not nearly as bright as traditional portable projectors, the MPro150 has built-in content management tools that are easy to use–and it is guaranteed to fit in your luggage. 6 min read Free Workshop | August 28: Get Better Engagement and Build Trust With Customers Now Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Enroll Now for Free December 19, 2014 This hands-on workshop will give you the tools to authentically connect with an increasingly skeptical online audience. Productivity is the name of the game for entrepreneurs. The good news is that there are thousands of amazing software applications out there, designed to make your life easier. The bad news is that you don’t have time to try thousands of software applications. Which ones are worth your time?In this post, we’ll take a look at 16 software applications that I use almost every day — and discuss why you should too.Project management.1. Asana. You’re a busy person. At times, it all can feel overwhelming. Asana is a cloud-based project management software that helps you keep it together. (Trust me, I’ve tried them all.) Flexibility is built into Asana’s architecture. Each “task”, or “subtask”, can be associated with a larger “project” and “department.” In addition, you can even assign recurring tasks to yourself or team, which makes life so much easier. Stop trying to remember all the things you’re supposed to do and let Asana structure your life.2. Google DocsMany entrepreneurs already have a Gmail address, but not every ‘trep knows about the power of Google Docs. By utilizing Google Docs, you can instantly create shareable documents, spreadsheets and presentations that can be updated by any team member with an Internet connection. Take that “track changes”!Related: 13 Business Productivity Apps for the Real-World EntrepreneurStaffing3. oDesk & ElanceoDesk and Elance (now in the process of merging) are freelance marketplaces, which allow you to quickly identify, engage and hire freelancers from all over the globe. Need a website developer or content writer? Don’t hire an employee; instead, work with a freelancer. At last count, there were more than 1 million freelance contractors available via these marketplaces.4. Outsourcing placement services. If you do much hiring of freelancers, you’ve probably considered outsourcing the outsourcing. There are several great services that can help, each with varying business models. For example, Bolton Remote will build your team with vetted, offshore contractors. Another provider, Hubstaff, starts with your project in mind and then matches you with project specialists. Using an outsourcing placement service will save time instead of trying to do the recruiting yourself. These firms typically offer free recruiting and placement services but take a cut of the hourly rate.Sales & Marketing5. Google Webmaster Tools.Everyone knows about Google Analytics, but are you using Google Webmaster Tools? As a marketer, I view Webmaster Tools as one of the most important free tools at my disposal. You want to get found on Google, right? Why not listen to what Google is telling you via Webmaster Tools?6. Google Adwords Keyword PlannerHow are your competitors getting found online? Google Adwords Keyword Planner helps you answer this question. The word “Adwords” may give some ‘treps pause, as it sounds like you will have to purchase advertising. Not true. Google has made its Keyword Planner tool available to anyone with a Google account (you must first click through the Adwords entry portal). Use the Adwords Keyword Planner to see what keywords are generating the most search volume in your niche and identify opportunities to capture traffic.7. WordPress CMSSure, all of the hosting companies offer a basic CMS (content management system). But do they offer the flexibility that you need to get found online? Probably not. WordPress is an open-source CMS that you can install, customize and continuously optimize. You will likely need someone with development experience to help with set up, but once the template is installed, you’re probably smart enough to publish content without any assistance.8. Amazon’s Self-Publishing Tools (Kindle Direct Publishing, Createspace, ACX)Always wanted to be an author but not sure where to start? Have you considered self-publishing? Thanks to Amazon, you can. Kindle Direct Publishing allows you to get the word out via e-books, CreateSpace helps you develop a print edition and ACX is the audio publishing division. I’ve used all three to develop my book.9. HitTailDeciding what to blog about can become time consuming. HitTail analyzes the data in your Google Webmaster Tools account and makes recommendations for long-tail words to write about. In addition, HitTail has a network of skilled writers who can create the content for you.Related: 5 Habits of Productivity App Super Users10. CopyscapeIf you outsource any or all of your content writing, you need to make sure your content is original. Paste content into Copyscape’s analyzer tool, and you’ll instantly know whether the content is original.11. MailChimpEffective email marketing involves more than occasionally blasting out a newsletter. To build an effective email marketing strategy, you need a tool packed with functionality. MailChimp seems to be the best system out there, offering elegant, intuitive newsletter templates, advanced list segmentation features and marketing automation capabilities.12. Zoho CRMIf you’re looking for a free CRM system, Zoho is probably the one for you. Why? It comes down to the integration possibilities. For example, Zoho integrates with JotForm and Unbounce simply by adding your API key. This means that within seconds, web leads will automatically be sent to your CRM. Pretty powerful for being free.Time Management13. iPhone RemindersI formerly had an Android device (even though I have had a MacBook since 2009 – weird, I know). After switching this summer, I quickly realized the power of iPhone “Reminders.” Each time a reminder is due, your iPhone buzzes and displays a pop-up. You can snooze it or mark as completed. In addition, you can set up recurring reminders, which are perfect for remembering to mail estimated quarterly tax payments, renewing subscriptions, running payroll and other things you tend to forget.14. Google CalendarYou may already use Google Calendar, but are you using it wisely? Here’s a secret: only put stuff on your Google Calendar that will actually happen at that date and time. Use iPhone Reminders to remember things that are not time-sensitive (down to the hour or minute). Following this strategy will help you stay more sane.Everything Else15. WeTransferNeed to send gigantic files (up to 2gb) quickly? Try WeTransfer.com. You don’t even have to create an account. I use it almost every day.16. ZapierThe average entrepreneur uses dozens of cloud-based software and apps. Zapier connects your online life and helps you build new functionality. The best part about Zapier is that you don’t have to be an API wizard to use it.With the right tools in place, you’ll find yourself more productive and efficient.Related: The 15 Best Productivity Apps for Getting Things Done
