PALMDALE – Holiday music and a one-woman comedy show in which audience members get to help make a Nativity scene will be part of the Palmdale Playhouse’s programs in December. Maripat Donavon will perform “Sister’s Christmas Catechism – The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold” on a stage decorated like a Catholic school classroom before Christmas. Choirs from local churches and schools will sing carols during the performance in which people will be recruited from the audience to dress up as shepherds and wise men and then search for the missing gold. “Sister’s Christmas Catechism” performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays Dec. 1-11 at the Palmdale Playhouse, 38334 10th St. E. Tickets are $25 for students, senior citizens and military personnel and $30 for others. The dance company studies and performs ballet, modern dance, tap and jazz. A nonperformance beginning-ballet class and a more advanced class are offered for dancers from age 7 through adult years. Jazz and tap students must be at least 12 years old. The choirs sing a variety of music – original compositions, popular standards, children’s songs, madrigals, gospel, jazz and show tunes. Children ages 8 through 12 are in the youth choir and older singers in the community choir. Short stories that won a Palmdale Writers Roundtable competition will be read at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Playhouse. Admission is free.
