The show premiered on Broadway in 1972 and has been revived on Broadway twice since. The 1978 film adaptation starred John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and Stockard Channing.Robert Cary and Buyer & Cellar scribe Jonathan Tolins will pen a new script for television. The two recently contributed additional book material to the current revival of On the Town. Complete casting for the Fox and Paramount Television project, including the role of Danny Zuko, will be announced at a later time, though Broadway.com fans have already voiced that they want a certain glittery rock goddess to don the leather jacket.
College journalists are also facing disruptions in the media industry, just like those working at professional news outlets, and questions about whether they will graduate to jobs in the business. Some are experimenting with new ways of delivering information.Arielle Gordon, 21, a senior at Colorado College, helped start a newsletter to report about the pandemic on campus and in the surrounding community of Colorado Springs. After a spike of cases in late August, the school’s test positivity rate has stayed below 1 percent, according to its coronavirus dashboard.“Our audience is definitely expanding as coronavirus cases pop up,” Ms. Gordon said, adding, “People in the broader community have more questions and have started paying more attention to the stuff that we’re reporting.”- Advertisement – Along with her co-writers, Ms. Gordon has published interviews with campus administrators, offered scientific forecasts about the state of public health and infection in the community, and documented the exhaustion of life in quarantine dorms.“People want to know what went wrong,” she said. “We’ve been trying to find out as much we can.” “You’re not parachuting in,” said Oyin Adedoyin, 21, the editor in chief of The Spokesman, the student newspaper at Morgan State University, Maryland’s largest historically Black university. “You literally live it,” she added. The Spokesman has partnered with the Poynter Institute to report on health disparities in Baltimore’s Black community. “Black people, specifically, have been affected by the coronavirus,” Ms. Adedoyin said, “whether it’s unemployment, whether it’s students who just really don’t learn as well online, whether it’s family situations where you just can’t be home.”- Advertisement – – Advertisement –
EATONTOWN — Home Instead Senior Care® is offering to help Monmouth County area families manage the challenges of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, diseases that eventually rob seniors of their memories and independence with free online training. The training for families caring for these older adults is now available through online e-learning modules at HelpForAlzheimersFamilies.com.The Alzheimer’s or Other Dementias CARE: Changing Aging through Research and Education Training Program offers a personal approach to help families care for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease at home, where 60 to 70 percent of them live, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. The foundation of the Alzheimer’s CARE Training Program is an approach called Capturing Life’s Journey® that involves gathering stories and experiences about the senior to help caregivers provide comfort while honoring the individual’s past. Because people with Alzheimer’s disease have difficulty with short-term memory, the Capturing Life’s Journey approach taps into long-term memory.“The training we’re offering to families is the same kind of training our professional CAREGivers receive,” Venancio said. The program for family caregivers consists of four classes: Alzheimer’s Disease or Other Dementias Overview; Capturing Life’s Journey; Techniques to Manage Behaviors; and Activities to Encourage Engagement. Also available is a free guide for those who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Called Helping Families Cope, the guide includes advice to help families keep their loved ones engaged and manage behaviors.Additional information about free family caregiver training or to obtain a copy of the Helping Families Cope booklet is available by contacting Home Instead Senior Care office at 732-542-9004 or visiting HelpforAlzheimersFamilies.com.
