With the matched giving element, the March Match Fund raised a total of £750,000 for local charities in England. Indeed, the final figure will be higher when the Gift Aid element of donations is included.The Localgiving.com March Match Fund began at 09.00 on 1 March 2012, promising to match donations made via the website to charities in England up to a maximum of £375,000. 1,177 charities were eligible to benefit from the campaign.Localgiving.com ran its first match fund pilot programme in May 2011, and its most recent campaign in December 2011 raised £300,000.Localgiving.com charges an administration fee, and gives the example of a £20 donation being worth £43.02 to the charity once it has been matched, the Gift Aid applied, and the admin fee deducted.Single transaction donations of between £5 and £1000 qualified for the matched giving element, and charities could receive up to £2,500 in donations that could be matched.
