One of the hardest hit firms has been Cineworld (LSE:CINE). The world’s second largest cinema chain has been forced to shut due to social distancing requirements along with mandatory lockdowns. Compounding this problem has been the large film studios postponing the release of high budget blockbusters. As a result, Cineworld shares fell at one point to a low of just 15.64p! This is a far cry from January this year, when the share price was above 200p.Is Cineworld stock fundamentally cheap? At the current share price around 60p, Cineworld (which reports in dollars) has a market capitalisation of $1,098m. In theory, if you had $1,098m, you could buy the business. Compare this to the net asset value of the business as of 31 December 2019. The figure was $3,247m. There’s a huge gulf between those two numbers. Cinemas aren’t as valuable as they once were, along with a decrease in inventory and trade receivables. 5G is here – and shares of this ‘sleeping giant’ could be a great way for you to potentially profit!According to one leading industry firm, the 5G boom could create a global industry worth US$12.3 TRILLION out of thin air…And if you click here we’ll show you something that could be key to unlocking 5G’s full potential…At the time of the half-year results for 2020, net assets still stood at $1,254m. So the Cineworld share price is still a fair way off reflecting the actual fair value of the company. In my eyes, this makes the stock a buy, with it being fundamentally cheap. The second reason I think the Cineworld share price is cheap is due to the low expectations for 2021. The half-year report showed admissions were down 65% on the same period last year. But this could change soon. Yesterday we saw the first vaccine administered here in the UK. The US is also shortly expecting to distribute a vaccine. If the rollout is successful over the next six months, then I’d certainly expect the rolling six-month cinema admission figure to improve. If admissions even claw back a percentage of the levels seen in 2019, this immediately filters revenue into the business. Cineworld is a simple business in its operations, so this cinema admission revenue should directly help the Cineworld share price move higher.Contrarian investingThe recent news of Warner Bros looking to stream upcoming movies is undoubtedly a blow for Cineworld. But consider other studios that have large films waiting to go on the big screen first. No Time To Die, Black Widow and Dune are just three examples of films that are expected to gross huge figures in 2021. Cineworld has a bank of big movies to call on that should kick-start business again for it. It does need to survive in the interim, and a successful funding of $750m only two weeks ago should go a long way towards this. Investing in Cineworld right now would be contrarian investing. I get that. Yet some of my most profitable investments have been from stocks that were undervalued and no one wanted to buy! As long as you’re comfortable with the risk you’re taking on, Cineworld shares could be top performers next year. It could take a while, but from 60p, a return to levels seen in 2019 around 240p would give a 300% return. When I look at the risk and reward potential, even a modest investment would have the ability to make me rich using those numbers. jonathansmith1 has no position in any of the shares mentioned. As an undergraduate student in Brazil, Daniela Lourenco knew that she loved statistics and genetics, but she wasn’t sure where that passion would take her. Then an introductory course in animal breeding genetics — the same class she now teaches to undergraduates at the University of Georgia — set her on a path that has allowed her to collaborate with scientists around the world.“My husband (who is also an animal scientist) told me there was this very cool class called ‘Animal Breeding Genetics.’ He said, ‘It works a lot with both genetics and statistics. I think you’ll like it,’” Lourenco said. She took a plant genetics course too, but found livestock genetics much more exciting.“I like statistics and math and genetics, and this field combines everything,” she said. Lourenco, who first came to UGA to finish her doctoral research, serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science. Her research focused on using big data analytics to improve livestock breeding, which is still her focus today. For years, breeders used information about an individual’s lineage and phenotypes to rate that animal’s breeding value. The advent of advanced genetics and genomic technology gave breeders access to thousands more data points to analyze before making breeding decisions.Lourenco helped to develop a one-step method for integrating genomic information about each animal with their phenotype and lineage information to produce a breeding value for each animal. She also helped implement this one-step method for the American Angus Association for both Angus and Charolais beef cattle, and she helped resolve one-step evaluations for dairy cattle, pigs, chicken and fish, including catfish and rainbow trout.Working with a team of geneticists and programmers in the UGA Animal Breeding and Genetics Group, she has helped to improve software that is used all over the world. Scientists often visit Athens, Georgia, to work with the group, and Lourenco now travels to consult and speak so often that, in a single year, she has earned enough airline miles to travel around the world almost three times.Currently, she’s working to refine software models for millions of animals and improve the accuracy of the estimated breeding values (EBVs) the models generate.“When EBVs are published, they are published with a measure of accuracy, and this accuracy is rated from 0 to 1,” she said. “We are trying to find a better way to estimate the accuracy of the EBVs. If we have small data, then we can calculate the accuracy easily, but we have large data. It is very costly, so we are trying to find a better way to approximate the accuracy to the EBV.”For more information about Lourenco’s work, visit the UGA Animal and Breeding Group website at nce.ads.uga.edu.

Spain coach Moreno frustrated after Norway equaliserby Carlos Volcano13 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveSpain suffered a last gasp goal on Saturday, with Norway scoring a late equaliser to draw 1-1 and to leave coach Robert Moreno frustrated.Saul Niguez’s dipping second-half effort was cancelled out by Josh King’s injury-time penalty to ruin Spain’s 100% record in Group F.After the game, Moreno discussed the bad feeling in the dressing room.”When they equalise in the 93rd minute, you can’t feel good,” explained Moreno. “But that’s part of football.”We knew that they could be dangerous in that type of play.”In the final minutes we were a little nervous and we risked too much, but that can happen.”Despite the setback, Moreno chose to reflect on the positives from the game.”I liked the attitude of the team,” he said.”The players who played have done well.”I think we generated chances to score the second, but I wish we could have defended those plays better.” About the authorCarlos VolcanoShare the loveHave your say
point guard derryck thonton dukeJust one day after he met face-to-face with Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, five-star Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep point guard Derryck Thornton has committed to the Blue Devils, according to ESPN’s Paul Biancardi. Breaking News. PG Derryck Thorton has told ESPN that he has made a verbal commitment to Duke. STORY http://t.co/cdlFzc6kM1— Paul Biancardi (@PaulBiancardi) April 21, 2015As Biancardi states, Thornton will reclassify to 2015 and enroll at Duke this summer. His decision fills a crucial void for the national champions, who didn’t have a true point guard on their roster following the departures of Quinn Cook and Tyus Jones. The 6-foot-2 Thornton will be expected to run the show for Krzyzewski’s squad, which is still in the running for a handful of 2015 recruits, including five-star wing Brandon Ingram. Despite the losses of Jones, Cook, Justise Winslow and Jahlil Okafor, Duke projects as a borderline top-10 team next season with Thornton, forward Chase Jeter, shooting guard Luke Kennard and Rice transfer Sean Obi joining a nucleus of returnees which includes starting forward Matt Jones, Final Four hero Grayson Allen and veteran big men Marshall Plumlee and Amile Jefferson.
